Cambodia U22 head coach Leonardo Vitorino considers the competition at next week’s SEA Games as a valuable experience for his team.
The Brazilian coach stated that he had built a new generation of players aged from 17 to 18 who were able to participate at least two other SEA Games events, therefore experience was the most important factor.
“The most important thing is to give our players a try. Why? We have a lot of players at the age of 17, 18 and 19, so they can play more than 2 SEA Games,” Vitorino said, as quoted by Keila Daily.
“”Our goal is winning the title in 2023, so we must work hard to become the champions in the region,” he added.
At the 29th SEA Games, U22 Cambodia have been drawn in Group B, which consists of title favorites Thailand and Vietnam. The team will play the opening match against the U22 Philippines on August 15.
All members will depart for Malaysia on Saturday.
