V.League club Hoang Anh Gia Lai to offer former Japan U23 coach advisory role

According to local newspapers, former Japan U23 coach has arrived in Vietnam, and the 56-year-old coach has also made an appearance to watch a U-15 football match between Vietnamese clubs Hoang Anh Gia Lai and PVF.

Reportedly, Hoang Anh Gia Lai’s board of directors have offered Sekizuka an advisory role, and the former Kawasaki Frontale manager arrived in Vietnam to discuss the deal with the V.League club.

The 56-year-old coach spoke highly of Hoang Anh Gia Lai’s young players, saying he was greatly impressed with their abilities on the pitch.

“Hoang Anh Gia Lai players are very technical. They have great speed and they are very smart. However, I think they still need to work on their defending”, Sekizuka told Thanh Nien Newspapers.

Sekizuka took charge at Japan U23 in 2010, guiding the team to a top eight finish at the 2012 Olympic Games. He also had short spells with Kawasaki Frontale and Júbilo Iwata.
