Thailand U22 banned from using social media during training for SEA Games

Thailand U22 players have been banned from using social media during the training sessions for this month’s SEA Games.

According to team manager Watanya Wongopasi, the Young War Elephants have to focus on the target of defending SEA Games title without any distraction.

“We want our players to stay focused during our preparations for the SEA Games so they are not allowed to use social media at the training camp,” Watanya said after 26 players began training on Sunday, as quoted by Bangkok Post.

“We only have five days to train [before flying to Malaysia] so we want the players to train hard without any distractions. We are only seeking the players’ cooperation and will not seize their mobile phones.”

Defending champions Thailand have been drawn into Group B, which is called “the Group of Death”, with title favorites Vietnam, Indonesia, along with Cambodia, the Philippines, and Timor Leste.

The Thais will begin their campaign in Kuala Lumpur against Indonesia on August 15.
