French coach Rene Lobello joins Liaoning Whowin

Liaoning Whowin have appointed French coach Rene Lobello as their new head coach to replace Ma Lin.

After the 1-0 win over Changchun Yatai in the Chinese Super League game on Sunday, Liaoning announced that their head coach Ma Lin resigned due to health problems. He will take over the position of technical director within the club.

“Ma Lin resigned due to health problems and we have agreed to his request,” said Liaoning representative, as quoted by South China Morning Post.

“We are trying very hard to avoid relegation and Ma Lin had been working under huge pressure and his energy is severely consumed.

“After the game against Changchun, he felt it impossible to hang on and resigned from the club. Considering his health problems, we decided to agree to his request.

“We are grateful for what he has done. Ma Lin has achieved a lot with Liaoning and he saved the team many times.”

With the working experience in his native France, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Switzerland and Algeria, Lobello is expected to guide his new team Liaoning to the safe zone.

Currently, the 1990 Asian Club Championship winners are sitting in the 14th position in the CSL table. Their crucial win over Changchun Yatai on Sunday help them end a run of seven straight defeats and stay out of the relegation zone by a point.
