Sardar Azmoun set to join Lazio in record deal

Iranian young striker Sardar Azmoun is on the verge of signing for Lazio from Russian Premier League outfit Rubin Kazan.

Rubin Kazan are reportedly will receive €18m for the 22-year-old flamboyant forward, who spent 2016/17 season campaign on loan at FC Rostov.

The deal was revealed by the Iran Football Federation (FFIRI) through its Instagram account despite the negotiations are still ongoing.

“Lazio agreed to pay Rubin Kazan €18m to capture the captain of the Iranian team,” read a caption of a FFIRI’s photo on Instagram.

“The signing of the contract would make him the most expensive football player in Iran’s history.”

Azmoun, who is a regular member of Iran national team since making international debut in 2014, will become the third Iranian footballer to play in Serie A after Ali Samereh and Rahman Rezaei.
