Gangwon midfielder Luong Xuan Truong: Vietnam U22 footballers have ability to play in Korea

Gangwon FC midfielder Luong Xuan Truong begins the training session with Vietnam U-23 team to prepare for the 2018 AFC U23 Championship qualification and 29th SEA Games.

The K.League club allow Truong to participate in U-23 Vietnam training session from 13 July to 30 August.

Until now, the 22-year-old midfielder has made 2 league appearances for Gangwon FC, both games ended with victories for the Korean team.

After marking the history as the first Vietnamese footballer to play in Korea’s top-tier football league, Truong believes that many of his compatriots have the ability to compete in the high-quality level of football like Korea.

“If the Vietnamese players are given the opportunity in Korea, there are many U22 players who meet the professional requirements,” Truong said to Vietnam media and newspapers after a training session on Friday, as quoted by Bong Da Newspaper.

“Probably, the problem is how they believe and how they see the potential of the Vietnamese players.”

U22 Vietnam will meet Timor Leste in the Group I opener of 2018 AFC U23 Championship qualification on July 19 at the Thong Nhat Stadium. Two days later they will play against Macau and then South Korea on July 23.
