Indonesia fail to break down Puerto Rico in goalless friendly

Indonesia dominated their friendly at home to Puerto Rico but failed to break down their opponents as the match finished goalless in Sleman.

The 2016 AFF Suzuki Cup runner-up created several great opportunities during the game but lack of proper finishing touches as the Perto Rico’s goalkeeper Cody Laurendi also showed a brilliant display.

Bali United star Irfan Bachdim was lively early on, creating one chance for Marinus Wanewar who saw his shot blocked by Laurendi.

Hector Ramos almost scored a heart-breaking goal for the hosts in the late minute of the game but his shot was denied by the bar.

“It was a disappointing result,” said Indonesia head coach Luis Milla. “The game was entertaining and our players were able to make several chances, but we need to train harder.”

“As I said before, this young team have improved very well. I think we need to do more training after the [Eid Mubarak] holiday.”

This was the second friendly game for Indonesia this month after previously on last Thursday they defeated Cambodia 2-0 in Phnom Penh.
