Buriam United coach faces 3-month ban for slapping Bangkok United physio

Buriram United coach Ranko Popovic faces a three-month ban for attacking a physio in a Thai League T1 match against Bangkok United at I-Mobile Stadium on Sunday.

According to Bangkok Post, Football Association of Thailand (FAT) imposes this ruling on Popovic since the Buriam United manager slapped in the face of Bangkok United physio Andy Schillinger in the tunnel after the match.

The incident was witnessed by fourth official Nitipoom Kullabut.

Popovic, whose team won the match 2-1, also faces a fine of 40,000 baht.

Buriram said they will appeal against the decision. However, if the appeal is dismissed, the Serbian coach will miss nine Thai League 1 matches, including one against rivals Muangthong United on July 9 which could potentially decide the title.

Currently, Muangthong and Buriram are joint leaders on the league table.
