Cheick Tiote dies after collapsing in training with Beijing Enterprises

Beijing Enterprises midfielder Cheick Tiote has passed away at the age of 30 after collapsing during training session with his club on Monday.

“At 6pm on June 5, Tiote fell unconscious during training. He was immediately taken to hospital but died at 7pm,” read a statement from Beijing Enterprise.

Emanuele Palladino as Tiote’s representatives also announced the sad news: “It is with deep sadness I confirm that Cheick Tiote sadly passed away earlier today after collapsing in training.

“We cannot say any more at the moment and we request that his family’s privacy be respected at this difficult time. We ask for all your prayers.”

Tiote, who won the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations with Ivory Coast, joined Chinese League One outfit from English club Newcastle United in February.
