Son Heung-min on target as Tottenham beat Kitchee in friendly

Tottenham Hotspur defeated Hong Kong Premier League champions Kitchee SC 4-1 on Friday in a post-season friendly played at Hong Kong stadium.

South Korean star Son Heung-min performed well in the first-half as he opened the scoring in the 17th minute before Vincent Janssen added a second just four minutes later.

Harry Kane extended the lead in the 83rd minute before Brazilian forward Lucas Silva pulled a goal back for Kitchee. But late strikes from Kazaiah Sterling sealed the victory for Spurs.

“I was expecting a difficult game against Tottenham Hotspur,” said Kitchee manager Chu Chi-kwong was quoted by South China Morning Post.

“They’re attacking is great, but even though we trailed, we kept disciplined and created some chances for ourselves.

“I expected Spurs to pin us back more but we were able to attack a lot.”

The friendly was part of a brief post-season tour to Hong Kong by Spurs that was a way to connect to Spurs fans in Asia, and also confirm an extension with Tottenham’s kit sponsors AIA.
