Sardar Azmoun happy to stay at Rostov despite interest from big clubs

Iranian striker Sardar Azmoun has ruled out a move to a high-profile European club, saying that he is happy and enjoys his life at Rostov.

The 22-year-old striker is considered one of the most sought-after footballers in the January transfer window following his impressive performances against European powerhouses Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid in this year’s UEFA Champions League.

However, he was quick to denied any contact from European big clubs such as Barcelona, Juventus or Arsenal.

“Iranian media have linked me with some odd moves, for example, an Iranian newspaper said Barcelona are going to sign me. This is funny as I had no contact from Barcelona. I have always said that I have never had any offer from Barcelona, Juventus or Arsenal,” the former Rubin Kazan striker said.

“The offers are attractive but imagine if I move to for example Liverpool and couldn’t make it to the starting line-up, it will ruin my career. I’m happy at Rostov and I enjoy my life here,” he added.

Azmoun also ruled out a move to Iranian side Persepolis, saying the club “cannot afford to pay his wage”.
